On November 4, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, attended the opening of a photo exhibition titled "Pridnestrovie in Photographs," held at the V. G. Ardzinba State Museum of Military Glory.

The event was also attended by the Speaker of the Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia, Lasha Ashuba; the Head of Sukhum, Timur Agrba; Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Odissei Bigvava and Iraklii Tuzhba; as well as staff members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 36th anniversary of the formation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the 85th birthday of its first President, Igor Nikolayevich Smirnov.

In his opening remarks, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to the Republic of Abkhazia, Garry Kupalba, noted the unique nature of the historical relationship between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, emphasizing that it is rooted in mutual support and solidarity between the two peoples.

He highlighted, in particular, the role of volunteers from Pridnestrovie who participated in the defense of the Republic of Abkhazia during the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia.

"From the very first days of the Georgian aggression in August 1992, volunteers from the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic stood side by side with their Abkhazian brothers among the defenders of Apsny," Garry Kupalba stated.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, also addressed the attendees. In his remarks, he noted the symbolic significance of hosting the exhibition within the State Museum of Military Glory, underscoring the shared historical path taken by both the Republic of Abkhazia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. "Both our countries have traversed a difficult way toward statehood, achieving independence through the courage and heroism of their peoples at the cost of significant human loss," the Minister noted.

The Minister also thanked Garry Kupalba, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic to the Republic of Abkhazia, for his active efforts in fostering Abkhazian-Pridnestrovian cooperation, highlighting his contribution to maintaining and strengthening ties between the two sides.

Oleg Bartsits acknowledged the role of the first President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, Igor Nikolayevich Smirnov, in the formation of Pridnestrovian statehood, emphasizing his contribution to uniting the people during one of the most challenging periods in their history.

"During the most difficult and dramatic periods in the history of his people, Igor Nikolayevich proved to be the very leader capable of uniting the nation in pursuit of a great, shared goal. In the Republic of Abkhazia, Igor Nikolayevich is regarded as a great friend," Oleg Bartsits stressed.
