On October 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia hosted a meeting between Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits and young athletes from the Republic of Abkhazia’s national rhythmic gymnastics team, who participated in the "Diamond Cup" international tournament held in Istanbul, Turkey, from October 1 to 4.

Also present at the meeting were Gunda Kvarchiia, President of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation of the Republic of Abkhazia, and national team coach Anastasia Getman.

The participation of the Abkhazian athletes in the tournament took place despite attempts by Georgia to block their entry by pressuring the organizers. Thanks to the assistance of the Plenipotentiary Representative Office of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Turkey, as well as the principled stance taken by the tournament organizers, the national team of the Republic of Abkhazia was permitted to compete.

During the meeting, Oleg Bartsits congratulated the young athletes on their successful performance, noting that, despite the obstacles placed in their way, the national team represented the country properly, securing championship titles and top spots.

"We are proud of you. In challenging circumstances, you demonstrated strength of character, resilience, and devotion to your country, proving that no obstacle can prevent you from worthily representing the Republic of Abkhazia on the international stage. You are ambassadors of goodwill for our country abroad, and you have fulfilled this noble mission with great merit," the Minister emphasized.

Oleg Bartsits also expressed his appreciation to the coaching staff for their professionalism, perseverance, and significant contribution to the training of these young athletes. For her part, Gunda Kvarchiia expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Plenipotentiary Representative Office of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Republic of Türkiye for their assistance in enabling the team to participate in the international tournament. She emphasized that such support for the team, along with the provision of appropriate conditions, is crucial for young athletes to take part in international competitions and to represent the Republic of Abkhazia with dignity on the global stage.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Oleg Bartsits presented Gunda Kvarchiia with a certificate of appreciation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, addressed to the Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation of the Republic of Abkhazia, in recognition of its achievements in promoting rhythmic gymnastics, its contribution to the development of physical culture and sports, and its role in fostering a positive image of the Republic of Abkhazia on the international arena.
